COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Introduction to Adobe Illustrator course is a twelve-week program designed to take students from complete beginners to confident vector-graphic designers, ready to produce professional logos, icons, and print-ready artwork.
The course begins with the Illustrator workspace and the core concept of vector graphics — how paths, anchor points, and shapes work, and why vector artwork stays sharp at any size, unlike a photograph.
In the early weeks, students learn the core drawing tools: the Pen tool, Shape tools, and the Pathfinder panel, practicing by tracing and constructing simple logos and icons from scratch.
As the course progresses, students move into typography and layout, learning how to work with type on a path, character and paragraph styles, and how to combine text and shapes into cohesive brand marks.
Midway through the course, students study color theory and the use of swatches, gradients, and the Color Guide panel to build consistent, professional color palettes for a brand identity.
Students then learn layers, artboards, and reusable symbols, building the skills needed to manage multi-page or multi-format design projects such as a business card, social media kit, and poster from a single file.
The course concludes with a capstone project where each student designs a complete mini brand identity — logo, color palette, and a set of supporting graphics — and exports it correctly for both print and digital use.
